Right-Of-Way Services
SCDOT is providing relocation and advisory services for individuals and businesses impacted by the I-526 Lowcountry Corridor WEST project. These efforts comply with state and federal requirements to assist displaced residents in securing appropriate replacement housing and necessary resources.
Dedicated liaisons are available at the Project Office (5605A Rivers Avenue) to assist those who are impacted in understanding their options, such as homebuyer assistance, subsidized housing, and transportation for viewing replacement properties.
Relocations are not anticipated until 2026 at the earliest.

Assistance Guide
A comprehensive guide outlining resources in the community that may be of assistance to those who are impacted.
Replacement Housing
SCDOT is securing up to 45 residential lots in or near Ferndale, Highland Terrace, Liberty Park, and Russelldale to replace single-family housing impacted by the construction of the I-526 interstate improvements. Working with the South Carolina State Housing Finance & Development Authority (SC Housing), a local non-profit will develop a Single-Family Replacement Housing Program.
Additionally, SCDOT has partnered with SC Housing to build 100 replacement multifamily housing units with a mixture of sizes (1-3 bedrooms) as close to the impacted housing units as possible.
Relocations are not anticipated until 2026 at the earliest.

Project Office
A Project Office will be maintained to provide ongoing information and direct support to impacted individuals throughout the relocation and right-of-way acquisition phases.
Community History Report
This report documents the impacted neighborhoods before the I-526 construction activities. It is available online and will be available at the replacement community center.
